The Art of Giving Back - Your Input Needed!

Eighth Generation believes that art is like any natural resource; if we want it to thrive, we need to nurture the ecosystems, communities, and the people that are creating the resource.  This is why we've supported countless organizations, community events, and ceremonies over the last few years. In 2016 alone, for instance, our little company became the Evergreen Longhouse's largest individual donor, due to the Thunderbird Arrives collaboration. We also contributed $16K to tribal journeys, and sent more than $10K in blankets to Standing Rock as the first frost came.

This high level of community engagement and support - combined with our innovative, artist-centric business practices - is setting the gold standard for companies that invoke Native themes and aesthetics in their products.   In short, we are proving that companies can support Inspired Natives, not "Native-inspired" -- and still be profitable.

And in a nod to Northwest tradition of the Potlach, we aspire to give even more as our company grows. So, it is with great pride that we announce the launch of our Inspired Natives Grant, which is funded by 5% of the profit from our blanket sales. The grant will be managed by our colleagues at the Evergreen Longhouse.

In addition to talking to folks in the community with expertise in this area, as well as drawing on our own experience, we would love your input to help us decide how to make the greatest impact with our grant. We welcome you to complete the short survey below, and any ideas you leave in the comments will also be considered.
