First Frost Gifting (2019) - Images and Videos from Our Annual Give Back!

Every year when the season changes and the first frost begins to settle, we donate wool blankets, socks, and other items to organizations helping people in need. In 2016, we started calling this our "First Frost Gifting."

Our most recent First Frost Gifting was for Chief Seattle Club's recently opened Eagle Village in SoDo, which provides modular homes as a route out of homelessness and into permanent homes.

According to data released in 2019, American Indians and Alaska Natives represent 10% off the homeless population in King County, but only 1% of the total population. 

Our Wool Blankets, including Confluence, Salish Pattern, All My Relations, and Reflection, displayed in Eagle Village homes. 

Last year, Eighth Generation donated over $5,000 worth of wool blankets to the Seattle Indian Health Board, a community health center established in 1970 to serve the healthcare needs of American Indians and Alaska Natives living in the greater Seattle/King County region of Washington State.

In 2018, Eighth Generation donated $15,000 worth of wool blankets to people transitioning out of homelessness at Chief Seattle Club's headquarters in Pioneer Square, where they provide a safe and sacred place to rest, revive, and nurture the spirit of urban Native peoples in need.

In 2017, Eighth Generation brought together numerous businesses and non-profits to support the Navigation Center, a 75 bed shelter in Seattle. Watch the video below:

When the first frost of winter was starting at Standing Rock, we donated $10,000 worth of blankets to the water protectors at Standing Rock to support those fighting against the Dakota Access Pipeline. Our Store Manager, Stephanie Masterman (Tlingit), drove over 1,200 miles to South Dakota to bring the blanket donation. Take a look at the video below!
